SK Gaming have confirmed the signing of the CS:GO team known as undefined.
The announcement was made during a press conference from SK Gaming’s offices, in Cologne, that was broadcast live on the German organisation’s Twitch channel.
SK have long been desperate to make their mark in the Counter-Strike scene once again after struggling to field a lineup capable of living up to the success that the organisation enjoyed in previous versions of the game.
Initially, SK had set their sights on the international roster assembled by Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom and Mikail “Maikelele” Bill but they were left empty-handed after finding themselves involved in a bidding war with Kinguin.
HUNDEN to lead the new SK Gaming roster
The German organisation then turned their attentions to undefined, a newly-built roster with two members of the latest Copenhagen Wolves team, Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen and Asger “AcilioN” Larsen.
Not all the players on undefined’s team will be making the move to SK, however, as ex-CPLAY duo Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander and Lasse “maeVe” Elgaard have been cut from the roster, with Rasmus “SandeN” Sanden and Michael “Friis” Jørgensen being signed in their stead.
“It is with a lot of excitement that we can finally reveal our new team and our organization, SK Gaming,” Larsen told SK’s website.
“It is a dream come true for all of us, playing for such a prestigious organization. We are looking forward to the future together with SK Gaming who will help us reach our goals as a top level CS:GO team.
“Finding the players has been a little bit of a rollercoaster, but I think we managed to find a good fit to have a great CS:GO team. We want to give a big thanks to SK Gaming for giving us the opportunity to rise and hopefully shine!”
The choice for a recently-created team with no achievements of their own whatsoever may seem odd, considering how hungry for success SK are after their previous two lineups, both featuring Swedish players only, failed to impress.
This is not the first time, however, that SK have signed an all-Danish Counter-Strike team: back in 2005, the organisation housed players like Danny “zonic” Sørensen and Jonas “whimp” Svendsen, who would later be part of the mTw team that dominated the scene in 2008.
The Danish team are currently taking part in ACER Predator Masters and in SLTV StarSeries XIII. The players should be making their debut for SK on Tuesday, against EnVyUs, in Starladder’s league.
SK Gaming’s new lineup consists of:
Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen
Asger “AcilioN” Larsen
Jesper “tenzki” Plougmann
Michael “Friis” Jørgensen
Rasmus “SandeN” Sanden
